Nathan Fillion to Browncoats: 'Please Don't Send Money!'

For those in the dark about the recent buzz, let's recap. In the last week or 2, we've learned a couple of things about Nathan Fillion and how he'd spend the loot if won the California State Lottery. He would:

1. Buy the rights to our beloved Firefly, produce new stories and bring it to the web.
2. Buy some commercials for Castle so you couldn't watch TV without seeing one.

You can't say the man's not dedicated to his work. In response to those comments, the creators started chiming in. Firefly writer Jose Molina wrote on Twitter: "For what it's worth, I've told him I'd drop what I was doing and follow." Then, Whedonverse writer Jane Espenson tweeted "I'm there, if needed." Kaylee herself, Jewel Staite, responded when a Twitter follower asked if she'd be on board: "Is the Pope Catholic? Hee! Why yes he is, Miss Staite.

As per usual, once the interwebs got hold of all this very exciting information, the regular uproar of "Bring back Firefly" campaigns surfaced. It looks like after all the hubbub, Fillion might have received some personal checks, money orders or I.O.Us or something, as the Cap'n himself, tweeted:

"It's beautiful to dream of more Firefly, but PLEASE DON'T SEND ANY MONEY. Just keep being great Browncoats, which you are!"

And there you have it! Keep the dream of Firefly alive along with your hard earned money...for now.

Is Jason Segel Next In Line For A Part In The Whedonverse?

Now that it's officially confirmed that How I Met Your Mother star Cobie Smulders has been cast as Agent Maria Hill in Joss's The Avengers, it's got us thinking: What's up with the HIMYM connection? First, Aly Hannigan gets a part on that show, which started in 2005. Then Neil Patrick Harris, who of course plays the infamous Barney Stinson on HIMYM, becomes crowned king of the Whedonverse (by me) as Dr. Horrible himself. Alexis Denisof, Amy Acker, Tom Lenk, Morena Baccarin, Danny Strong, and Harry Groener have all played guest roles.

So, since it's obvious that the show is some how cosmically intertwined to our world, is funnyman Jason Segel up next? I say hell yes because he's super-funny, loves vampires (he wrote a vampire musical in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall"), and likes to show his penis. Bring it on, Joss! Just write a part for the man and be done with it.

Buffy's Birthday Bash Recap

Jeff Ayers, General Manager at Forbidden Planet was approached by a shopper wondering "What's happening tonight?" All around her, people stood, some in costume, some talking, some singing, interviews were being held but what was happening?

"It's Buffy's Birthday", Jeff replied.

"Oh", the comic shop denizen replied. "Is she here?"

Only in a comic book store, ladies and gentlemen.

Yes, we held us a shindig at the much beloved and ballyhooed Forbidden Planet and, for once, nothing bad happened on the day of our young Miss Summers' birth. There were cookies, there were giveaways, people wore silly costumes and sang along to both Doctor Horrible and Once More with Feeling. It was, in short, a delight.

Dark Horse did us a sweet solid by supplying a number of signed comics to give away and so, with great frequency, we held drawings based on a myriad of Buffy trivia and, lo, many a Buffy fan walked away a victor.

Bitsy on the Mic:

Buffyfest's Tara and Bitsy (channeling his inner Spike) with friend-of-Buffyfest Ian Klein.
Some fab photos from the event taken by Lawrence Brenner.

More photos

Check out Buffyfest tomorrow where we'll be holding a costume contest from the event. You'll get to vote and choose the winner! The prize is a fabulous Jo Chen Buffy cover print signed by the artist herself.

Kids of the Whedonverse!

Looks like all the little Whedonverse tots and their famous parents were out and about this past weekend. Check out the family portraits!

Whedonverse First Family Alyson Hannigan, Alexis Denisof and 18 month old Satyana were out in Brentwood this weekend. Apparently little Sati's verbal skills are doing quite well. Aly tweeted:

"So this week Sati has been saying "Missed you Mommy" when I come home from work. She fills my heart and breaks it all at the same time!!!"

cute!

Next up is Smidge and Charlotte (who looks exactly like Freddie Prinze, Jr. Seriously, click to enlarge.) When did she get big enough to walk? And speaking of walking, check out her super-fab boots! Sarah Michelle Gellar's fashion sense is sure to rub off on Char.

Finally, we have NPH, his partner David and their twins, Gideon & Harper (wrapped up air-tight strapped to the boys' chests!) Apparently, and amazingly, the twins were biologically fathered by each man. However, it's a mystery as to "whose is whose".

NPH told People magazine last month: "We found an egg donor anonymously through a hilarious process of looking at people's profiles.

"And then we inserted two eggs [via surrogate], one with my sperm, one with David's sperm and they both took.'

Burtka added: 'When we first found out it was fraternal twins, we were thrilled.

"We don't know whose is whose, but it's amazing how different they are already. She is all girl and he is all boy,' he added, before Harris elaborated: 'She is more emotional and verbal. He sleeps and burps a lot."

And there you have it! Modern Science, babies and the Whedonverse.
