Welcome readers new and old to our 7th Tournament here on Buffyfest! This is going to be a big one as we attempt to figure out something pretty heavy. You know those shocking moments this 'verse has brought us over the years? The ones where right after the screen turns black and says "Created by Joss Whedon" you shake your fist in the air and scream "Joss!" For instance Tara getting killed with a simple Willow response "your shirt", Buffy jumping into a magical hole of Heeeaavvaaan or Darla staking herself into oblivion to save her human child? In a nutshell: What is the most dramatically shocking moment of the Whedonverse? Jossss!

I was ugly crying when Fred died. It was heart wrenching. If Illyria hadn't been so awesome I don't think I would have been able to deal with it. Even now, as much as I like Illyria, it's still sad.
YES! These were brilliant. Love to see Season 8 in the mix too.
Agree, ODonWhedon, Fred had like the worst story in the Whedonverse. First, abducted and sent to a hell dimension, then getting body-jacked and losing her soul forever in the process. It's really effed up!
Still I had a hard time choosing that vs. Angelus snapping Jenny's neck. That was super-shockign at the time and poor Giles.
And Kaaren, there are some S.8 and S.9 moments in there! Giles death, Buffy's robotic pregnancy and Buffy/Satsu...although that wasn't so much shocking since it was all over the news at the time.
I would argue that Fred's death was not shocking at all as it took what seemed like a long time, while Jenny was gone in an instant. I also ugly cried for Fred. :(
It think its gonna be a battle royal between Wash and Tara. We were totally blindsided by both of them, and we were prepped for Joyce. I remember yelling WHAT THE $&!@ at the television when Tara died...but when Wash died I felt like my heart had been ripped from my chest. I was in a theater full of people who collectively lost their $4!t. It is gonna be that close :) Cant wait to see if I am right.
