The Final Four was intense, but then again we are a passionate bunch, right? Spike pretty much clobbered Willow, not a surprise...but Red had more than a few fans with 69 votes. The real surprise was Giles beating Buffy by a huge landslide at one point early on! But the slayer came back in the end to beat Giles by an even 20 points. I always thought Buffy would make it to the end, but she sure got a run for her money a few times. See below for battle for the championship:

I personally do not like Buffy's character. If it wasn't for the fact of characters like Spike, Andrew, Anya, Giles and Willow I wouldn’t have continued to watch the show. By the end of season 7 I really did not like Buffy Summers.
So for me my vote goes for Spike.
I am rather sad that Willow did not make the final 2. She is my favorite television character ever!But she lost to Spike so I can't complain too much. Alas, though I love Spike I have to vote for Buffy.

Spike has my heart, and my vote.
Spike. The way he changed so much throughout the series in a believable manner, while retaining his core personality and sense of humor, still blows my mind. That plus the way Marsters can show so much emotion with just a look or a slight cock of his head. Buffy may have been the title character, but Spike was the show's masterpiece creation.
Buffy. Girl got a 1430 on her SATs while saving the damn world. All the freakin' time. And, you know, the series is after her. And, you know, she's the symbol for female empowerment everywhere.

If the show just focused around Buffy (who took a major nosedive s6 on down with many less than heroic actions--less than decent human being actions, frankly--and never fully redeemed herself), then a lot of people would have stopped watching. The show needed Spike. And big, funny Xander. Willow. Anya. I don't think many would watch for just Buffy on her lonesome.
